Consultation on CHVI Funding Programs

Next Steps and Concluding Remarks

  • Recommendations from the consultation should be analyzed and be used for the development of calls for proposals.
  • Draft RFPs should be reviewed by potential funding recipients to ensure that they are clear and that they reflect consultation proceedings. An appropriate mechanism should be put in place to facilitate on-line consultations.

On behalf of the CHVI Steering Committee, Louise Holt expressed her gratitude to all participants for their participation in the consultation and for their willingness to share their knowledge and expertise that will help the CHVI create an effective program. The organizing committee was also recognized for its efforts in ensuring the success of this meeting.

The plenary speakers were thanked for their thorough and enlightening presentations, which provided the global context, and the framework for the consultation.  The dedication of the presenters in the fight against HIV/AIDS is a demonstration of the concern we all share for the monumental task still ahead in the search for an effective HIV vaccine.

Throughout this consultation, there has been an open, comprehensive and insightful exchange of ideas regarding the CHVI funding programs.  Participants’ contributions to these discussions will help shape the Requests for Proposals/Applications that will be developed over the coming months.  In addition, the notes from this consultation will be captured in a final meeting report that will be sent to all participants.

The CHVI Steering Committee will move forward to establish advisory committees, information sharing fora and other mechanisms to stay engaged with experts and collaborators and encourage coordination and linkages between stakeholders.
